10 Fashion Faux Pas

Most of us feel like we are invincible to the fashion faux pas; however, times change and everyone has different taste. So here are a few tips to avoid while getting ready for the day.
1.      Make sure your clothes fit you. Too baggy and too tight are both fashion faux pas. Baggy clothes add pounds and look grungy. Too tight of clothing adds and shows bulges. Buy things that look good and fit you now!
2.      Don’t mix seasons. It doesn’t flow right.
3.      Make sure bra and panty lines do not show! This is distracting and unprofessional.
4.      Don’t wear wrinkled clothes. Use an iron to smooth out those stubborn wrinkles! Wearing clothing with wrinkles makes you look like you just jumped out of bed and ran out the door. It is unappealing and unprofessional!
5.      Make sure your dress or skirt isn’t too short. Don’t feel uncomfortable.
6.      Beware of white. It adds bulk! Just try to limit this color.
7.      Also beware of too many colors at once! Too many colors will make you look like 5 year old trying to dress yourself.
8.      Don’t wear more than one printed clothing. Pick a top or bottom with prints but not both.
9.      Don’t wear more than one shade of denim.
10.   Match your accessories and don’t over accessorize! Picking the right jewelry tops off your look. Make sure you are matched all the way through!

Individuality Sets Us Apart!

Everyone has their own style, taste, and purpose with jewelry. One woman has an elegant necklace, though it is beautiful the necklace might not be another woman's style! That is why I do interchangeable watch faces and custom watches! Individuality is important for each of us to express a piece of who we are on first glance. Bright bold colored jewelry tells us that you are confident and playful. Elegant small pieces say you are professional. Pastels say you are sweet and humble. Everything about jewelry says something. Size, color, stone, shape, length, ect. Jewelry is an incredible way to express yourself. Call Shirley (435) 862-2220 so that I can make you your custom watch and you can show off a bit of who you are and what you love!

Jewelry Cleaning

How do you keep your jewelry sparkling without taking them to the jewelers? Here are a few tips I use to keep my jewelry clean!

Pearls are a very high maintainance jewelry. Hairspray, perfume, and comsetics dull them exceedingly fast! To help prevent this, completely finish getting ready before putting on your pearls. Perspiration also harms pearls so it is important to wipe them with a soft cloth after every use! Store your pearls in a breathable protective  pouch to prevent them from getting scratched from your other jewelry.

Gold is the most common jewelry especially for wedding rings. Since you wear your wedding ring everyday it probably gets dirty fast. This method is easy and cheap! Soak your gold in hot water mixed with a small amount (about 15%) of dish soap and ammonia for about 20 minutes. (If your gold has any stones make sure they can withstand ammonia and soaking! Diamonds can be cleaned this way.) Take the ring out of the mixture and clean with a soft bristled toothbrush. Pay special attention to crevicis! Rinse in hot water. Make sure to get all the cleaning solution off to avoid soap residue. Buffer the gold with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.

Most jewelry you can simply buffer with a soft cloth to make it shine and prevent from hurting precious stones. Always research your stone before soaking or using a harsh chemical on it!

How to Pick Your Accessories by Hair Color

Dark Brown and Black Hair- Your hair sets a natural black background that really sets off jewelry such as pearl, seashell, silver, and corn silk. To better match your clothing you can pick jewelry with icy or clear tones.

Red Hair- Pick yellow gold, bronze, copper, and oxidized gold and silver for your metal. Pick stones such as turquoise, topaz, diamonds, canary, opals, ivory toned pearls, jade carnelians, and garnets.

Blonde Hair- Pick old golds, yellow golds, and brass for your metal. Flattering stones include ivory, topaz, peridot, amethyst, pale emeralds, sapphires, pearls, and diamonds.

Looking Good in Orange!

For most people orange isn't easy to pull off. However, orange is incredibly flattering since it instantly adds a natural glow to your skin tone. So here are a few tips to make wearing orange easy.

If you want to wear something orange near your face, such as a shirt, hat, or other accessory, you should pick a vibrant shade of mango for olive to dark skin tones or a sunset color if you’re a little paler. When you try something on at the store, just hold up it up to your face; if it makes your eyes and face brighten, buy it! If it makes you look pale, put it back!

If you want to wear a crazy neon orange but you’re afraid it won't look good with your skin tone, get an accessory away from your face, such as a belt, shoes, or a watch!

Spice it up with a custom made orange watch! Contact Shirley at (435) 862-2220.

3 Tips for the Fashionable Teenager

With today's trends in fashion in constant motion, changing day after day, it is really difficult to find your own style in the competitive world of High School.  And if you are a parent or guardian of a teenager it is even harder to know what to get them.  So we have come up with some great tips on making sure you don't end up a 'looser' to your teen when you bring them a fashionable gift..

1.  Make-up - Teen girls are always looking for that perfect look and have a difficult time finding what make up looks best on them.  We suggest keep it simple with the basics and let your teenager figure out the rest.  Simple pale eye shadows, soft colors for lip gloss and some mascara.  Simple yet effective.

2. Hair - ok, I personally can't figure out how the girls these days get their hair to curls, twist and contort into the super cute styles they have going on today.  So the best advise I can give is the teens love the new flower clips and they come in several different colors.  Bling is big so make sure you pick ones with glitter or jewels in them.

3.  Jewelry - Ah, my favorite.  Color, style, uniqueness and flair.  All of the jewelry these days consist of all of these attributes.  And so at Beautiful Beads Watches we make sure that every one of our watches are unique, one-of-a-kind with glitz and glam!

All the glitters is not gold

Yes, yes, the fashion trends this year are all about the gold. And the more gold the better these days.
But I'm not convinced they know exactly what they are talking about.  I mean, after all, all that glitters really isn't gold.
That's right, I'm talking about the SILVER baby!  Blinging and shining silver.
The glitter, the glitz and all that truly shines.
But silver is not the only color taking the stage this Christmas holiday.  Bold, vibrant and sassy red has stepped up to the fashion plate and is ready to knock your socks off.  With the combination of both reds and silvers, you can't go wrong.  Beautiful Beads has made some of the most unique and colorful Holiday collection that you can get your hands on.  You will just love the richness and unique styles of each watch!
